Global Essay Competitions [1-on-1]

Before the program Students complete a short intake covering their subject interests, target competitions, and a sample of recent writing. The mentor match is made from this. Students also receive a reading pack of winning essays from past years with notes on why they placed. Week 1 | Question and evidence Narrowing a broad interest into a specific, arguable question. Understanding what the judges of the chosen competition actually reward. Mapping the existing debate, finding credible sources, and separating evidence from opinion. Week 2 | Argument and structure Building a thesis, constructing the line of reasoning, sequencing the sections, and stress-testing the argument against the strongest counterpoints before drafting. Week 3 | Full draft Students write the complete first draft. The mentor returns detailed written feedback on argument, evidence, and clarity, followed by a working session on the weakest sections. Week 4 | Revision and submission Rewriting for precision and word count. Fixing citation format, checking every claim against its source, and confirming the entry meets the competition rules. The essay goes out ready to submit. After the program:  Students submit their essay to the competition and to Futurowise for publishing, and receive their certificate. They leave with a method for turning a question into a defensible argument, which is the same skill their college essays and university coursework will demand.
